Hickory, Dickory, Dock, I Love A Clock!!!!!!

I have a thing about clocks! I don't know why. I guess we all like some things better than others and collect stuff we like.

My clocks are not old or collectors items. I just like clocks.

If I go into Big Lots, I will look at the clocks. If I go to a flea market or antique shop, the clocks are one of the first things I look for in the store. If I find one I really like, I will come home and take down one I already have and either give it away, throw it away, or try to move it somewhere.

I, now, have one in every room including the laundry room and the garage and I don't want more than one to a room so I have to take one down when I get a new one. I have not put one in the storage building yet but that is a thought!

Some of my clocks are electric but most are battery operated. I hate having to reset them every time the electric goes off like the ones on the stove and microwave.

Every time the batteries start getting low the clocks seem to start ticking louder. I kind of like hearing them tick because it reminds me of the old wind-up clocks we used to have at home when I was a child. You could hear those old things all over the house ticking, ticking, ticking.

Is there anyone else out there that has a passion for clocks? Is there something else that you collect or that you especially like a lot?

Leave me a comment and tell me about your favorite collectible.

All of our clocks run on battries and I don't like this. what will we do if someday we can't buy battries.
My father and his brother could look at the sun and tell time with in one half hour maybe we will have to learn to do that.

Hi again Judy, I have a passion for porcelain - piano babies - I have them in all sizes. I intend to do a blog soon to show what they are like. I have cut down on my ornaments recently as they were taking over my home. Kate x.

I love your clocks. When I was very little, we had an old Seth Thomas on the mantel. I loved to watch my father wind it. Have no idea what happened to it. My mother was always throwing away or giving away things, without regard to their value, or to anyone else in the family who might be interested. I guess it went the way of all the rest.

I like old, old clocks too. Battery clocks are great when the electric is out!

I once heard that you have an official collection if you have more than three of something. I try to limit myself to that. I find myself drawn to suncatchers, especially nice stained glass ones. And I like pottery. I have a collection of Christmas teddy bears that comes out once a year. And a collection of about 4 different old china patterns. Gee, I need to downsize!

Although I am not a collector of clocks, I do have an E. Ingraham Co. of Bristol, Conn. pendulum wall clock that hung in my late husband's grandparents and then his father's small town newspaper in Illinois. It is quite old. I believe it dates back to 1890. I enjoy your blogs very much.

I love clocks, too, Judy. Yours are very pretty. One day I'd like to have a real Swiss cuckoo clock with the little woodchopper and the music box. I collect inexpensive little wind-up toys, though right now I have to keep them packed away until we can build some shelves.
By the way, thank you so much for your kind words on my blog. It means a lot to me.

I collect frogs. One day soon, I will try to get a picture of them. I love your clocks. That's what my Father-in-law collected. I can remember going to their house to stay all night and he had eighteen clocks you could hear ticking. I loved to hear the ticking, but some of them chimed on the hour. Not much sleep for me!

Hi Judy,

I collect a lot of things...I guess my biggest thing is my fascination with Santas- old and new. I have made a lot of papier mache and gourd santas in the past! Some are on my craft & collectibles site.

Dolls also are among my favorite things and I have a big collection !

About your clocks...I wrote a poem titled 'Time.' It's about growing old- not clocks! :) ( on my poem site)
