HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!

ii

America celebrates July 4 as Independence Day because it was on July 4, 1776, that members of the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadephia, adopted the final draft of the Declaration of Independence.

John Adams wrote that the Fourth of July "...ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..."

Here is a simple way to decorate a cake for the Fourth of July holiday using blueberries and strawberries!

You can make your own cake or you can click on the link for a recipe of how to make the cake above: http://allrecipes.com/HowTo/Wave-Your-Flag-Cake-Video/Detail.aspx

I am proud to be an American and proud of my country. I am proud of having freedom of choice and of living in a land of opportunity.

Leave me a comment and tell me what it is about this country that makes you proud!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Fourth of July holiday!!!!!!

OOps,just saw your quote - Erma Bombeck, wow! my first husband brought home one of her books from when he was working in the middle east - what a writer, she is the only one I have found who can make me laugh out loud while reading her books.... ever since then I have been trying to get hold of more of them. Even the libraries have them as being out of date.. do you know of anyplace who have any Judy?

Judy,
Sorry to be off-topic. Just stopped by to answer your question about the shoe store in Casey Co. I bet you're thinking of Polly's Place on East 70. They opened a store in Danville and eventually closed the one here. The new one is in the same shopping center as the Butternut Outlet store is in Danville. I've only been in there once and the prices have gone up to match the environment.

GOD AND COUNTRY.....

Think about where our great country would be without a faith in God.....that began so long ago, and sustained strongly so throughout history to this very day.

That is why America is and always will be the land of the free....deep rooted in love of God and Country.....and I pray we never stop saying "In God We TRUST"

Great post mom! There are so many things about our country that I LOVE that it would take me all day to write them all down. I am very proud to have the opprotunity to succeed, with hard work and drive you can accomplish your goals in this country. I am very thankful for that and wish more people could see that opprotunity instead of standing around complaining about things they cant control.

Love you!

Anne

First, I must say that little Thomas Wyatt is SO adorable!! I bet you just can't hug and kiss him enough.

I'm sure I will be eating some tasty meals and treats over the next several days. I'm going to Blogstock in Nebraska to meet some blog buddies, then we are off to St. Louis to spend some time with my hubby's family. Good food will most certainly be eaten!!

Our liberty is something we fought hard for and should continue to always defend.
I am so proud to be an American, and I am proud of our troops who have served us well in the past and are still serving us well today.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!!!!!

Happy 4th to you and your family! Your grandson is adorable. Aren't grandkids fun? I have 3 that I dearly love to have around.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I, too, have been retired 3 years-from teaching, and I love retirement! Hope I never have to get a paying job again! :) Stop in again...

Oh, My, so many wonderful comments and bloggers. What a really great country this is, where people of like interests can connect safely in blogland. We love our country, and I have been to quite a few countries in this world. Each time I returned home, I felt like kissing the ground, and there is not feeling to compare to seeing our American Flag flying when you land. Love America forever.

I made that cake once.....this year I'm taking to my friends house a spinach salad with strawberries, blueberries, and feta cheese, and some kind of dressing....

Proud of our Country, yes I am, but also frightened of it....it seems that we are loosing our freedom of speech....and freedom of religion....but I have great pride in all those wonderful soldiers over seas and pray they come home soon, safe and sound....
Happy Independence Day.....

Hi Judy,
Thanks for the comment on my posting about Hildegard and the flies. Glad you enjoyed it. I very much appreciate your posting on the 4th of July. I, too, am proud to be an American and feel that I have won the lottery just living in this great country. I am going to try your cake. Looks and sounds yummy. Thanks again.
