GREEN TEA - THE MIRACLE DRINK!

I love tea! I drink tea almost all day every day. I like it cold or hot and with or without sugar and I like all kinds of tea.

Did you know that next to water, tea is the most consumed beverage in the world?

Research indicates that green tea contains polyphenals that act as antioxidants and are reputed to be very helpful in preventing and treating certain medical conditions.

The Chinese have been drinking green tea for centuries and in 1994 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published the results of an epidemiological study indicating that drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly sixty percent.

The list of benefits from green tea is a long one. I am going to list a few of them.

Prevents and helps in treating:

1. Blood clots
2. Tooth Decay
3. Arthritis
4. Atherosclerosis (where plaque builds up in the arteries)
5. Parkinson's Disease
6. Osteoporosis
7. Bad Breath
8. Reduces Inflammation
9. Gastritis
10.Colitis
11. Improves memory
12. Blood pressure
13. Stroke
14. Controls weight
15. Lowers cholesterol
16. Diabetes
17. Heart Disease
18. Alzheimer's Disease
19. Increases life span

The only negative side effect so far is that it contains caffeine. You can buy it without caffeine but the decaffeination process removes one third to half of the antioxidants. I think the positive outweighs the negative when it comes to green tea.

If you are not a green tea drinker, maybe you should consider trying this beverage and enjoy some of the benefits it has to offer.

My doctor told me recently that I was very lucky to be in my sixties and not on any kind of medicine and to enjoy good health. I wonder if the tea has anything to do with it.

What is your favorite drink? Are you a tea drinker, too?

Love your informative post on my favorite beverage, tea! Green tea is truly excellent. I also enjoy and recommend the following black teas: a British tea called Yorkshire Gold, the tasty Canadian Red Rose, and an Irish delight called Barry's Gold Blend.

Judy, I am also a tea drinker.
Love my Green tea in the morning and a lot of other times.
If tea can heal - then this One Woman should be - like you - very healthy.

Hi Judy,
I'm a tea drinker too. Once in a while I will have coffee. I'm afraid that I can't have caffeine, so I can't reap the benefits of this drink. To me it is a very relaxing drink.

Most informative post Judy, unfortunately for me I don't like tea but drink plenty of water,I have never liked tea, why I don't know as both my mother and husband were great tea drinkers.

Have a lovely day.

I guess I'm more of a coffee and cocoa girl, but I do drink tea from time to time. My husband Tom is a big green tea drinker. After reading of all its benefits and seeing how great you look, Judy, maybe I should consider it, too! Thanks for another interesting post.

Judy,
I hear so many good things about green tea and Martha Stewart just sent me a teabag full of the stuff. I like iced tea sometimes and my cousin LOVES iced tea at any time. Going shopping with her is a trip to find somewhere they serve tea.

We drink coffee in the morning around here and rarely have tea. So many find it calming, but it just jazzes the heck out of me. I can drink neither sugared coffee nor sugared tea. Mostly I drink plain water and w/o the lemon they like to put in it. Read somewhere the lemon slices have e coli on them, so I pass on the lemons.

What great timing your post is. You'll know why when you get a chance to stop by my blog.
I am a tea drinker too. I drink it nearly every day. I drink it iced or hot. I love it! It does indeed have many health benefits. I drink green tea, and my favorite tea is called American Classic tea. I also drink some flavored teas. I have vanilla-carmel and apple-cinnamon right now in my cupboard, along with the green and American Classic tea. Maybe some day, you and I will have tea together and have a nice visit. Who knows?
You and I could be spokeswomen for TEA!!!

:-)

Hi Judy. This post is right up my alley!

I drink tea on a daily basis. I mainly enjoy green tea, but a good iced tea in the summer really can't be beat in my book.

Have you tried white tea? It's very healthy.

As always, thank you for your wonderful post.

Hi Judy, I'm trying to catch up after being gone a week. We had a nice vacation to Florida--but it's great to be home!!!

George and I have been drinking a cup of green tea everyday for over a year now.

Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

I learned to love green tea while living in Okinawa Japan 28 yrs ago. the people there literally drink it all day long...maybe that's why they are the most long lived people in the world.
