DIDDLE, DIDDLE DUMPLIN, MY GRANDSON, THOMAS WYATT

Thomas Wyatt came for an overnight visit on Saturday. We spent a lot of time outside with me pulling him in that red wagon and him checking out all the trees in my yard. He can now say "tree" and goes around touching each one and says the word. I have about 22 big trees so he is getting a lot of practice. He is fine as long as I keep moving the wagon but the minute I stop he stands up or tries to get out.

He had totally run himself down by 7 p.m. and Nanna decided to put him in the big tub instead of the sink like I usually do. He gets in the big tub at his house and plays with all his toys in the water. He stood there and watched me run the water, let me take off his clothes and diaper and when I got ready to lift him over the side, he balked like a mule, sat in the floor and would not budge. All of a sudden he jumps up and runs in the kitchen to the sink and starts jumping up and down. Of course, Nanna put him in the sink and he was so happy to play with the spray and the faucets. I told my son I could see me getting the little step stool when he was five years old and saying, "go up the steps and get into the sink" since I would not be able to lift him by then....

TW was fast asleep by 8 p.m. and I was awakened by a cute little humming noise about 5 a.m. this morning. He was awake and happy and ready to start another day . We did a diaper change, heated a bottle and Nanna did "rock-a-bye baby" in the rocking chair with him covered in a blanket enjoying his bottle. Next, when he was good and awake we had oatmeal in the high chair.

The picture with one sock on and one off reminded me of diddle, diddle dumplin a children's poem. He is standing in front of the pantry where I keep the fruit loops. He goes there when he wants some and I put just a few on a placemat for him to munch on between meals.

He needs to grow just about one more inch and he can reach my light switches. This is going to make him so happy! He tries very hard but just can't quite make it.

His dad came to get him around 9:30 a.m. and we got the stroller out and went for about a 45 minute walk through the neighborhood before they left for home. TW enjoyed seeing the dogs and cats and I enjoyed visiting with my son.
I cannot believe that TW is already 16 months old. It seems like yesterday when we brought him home from the hospital. He will be back in two weeks and Nanna will be ready to see him again.

Hi Judy, It sounds as though you had a great visit with him, he sounds a right wee character - as we would say... He certainly is a really cute wee boy and it sounds as though he has you wrapped round his little finger. It won't be long mind you before he is running around with that wee cart himself. Cheers, Kate x.

TW is such a handsome little boy. They're so much fun at this age but boy are we tired when they go home!

Mine is 6 now and that's also a nice age. He's able to do more things for himself now, and I can leave the room for a few minutes without wondering what he's getting into.

Looking forward to more TW pictures. It's wonderful your children share him with you. Not all grandmas are so lucky.

Awww...Thomas Wyatt is the cutest little guy! I always look forward to the latest pictures of TW. I particularly love the top one of him peeking out between the two trees.
Yes, it's going to be fun times when TW is able to reach that switch and turn the lights on and off! :-)

You really do have a little boy doll there. They are so much fun. Aren't you glad you don't have to think of running to work, so you can enjoy every minute you have with him. Good post!

Judy, smiling all through your entry. Your grandson is adorable
and I know you enjoyed your time with him. When it is time for them to return home It leaves you with your heart smiling and your body sometimes weary. Many years of enjoyment are coming your way.

Hi judy, he is a real cutie...I love the picture of him peaking behind the trees....they do grow up fast....when I look at Sammy he seems to grow a mile a minute, and moves that fast too....I'm glad i'm the granny and not the mom, for I'm tired just thinking about full time with Sam...LOL

Hi Judy, I love to see TW and hear your words about him. I love all of the pictures but the one peeking between the trees is my favorite. That is beautiful.

Judy,

I sure enjoyed reading this and it took me back!! I had my 4 grands with me constantly when they were little- and on up through their childhood! The 3 siblings here in our town were here most of the time-as I was the 'babysitter- for them all! And my other grandson started staying with us for a week visit when he was about your little boy's age!! :) What a joy they were- but you know that-right? :)

Enjoy every moment!!

Everyone should be assigned a small child, every now and then, to remind us how precious they are and how quickly the time goes...

Judy,
He is so cute. Thanks for sharing him with us.
I have a story about fruit loops. We went on vacation with friends. We all shared a cabin...two families, 9 people. My son, John, was a little guy. He loved fruit loops. In the morning, I would give him a little container of them to keep him quiet till everyone was awake. He would say, "Boop, Boop Mommy, Boop, Boop Mommy" After saying this several times we heard a sleepy voice from the next bedroom, "Will you give the kid some Boop Boops please?" It was our friend's husband who wanted to go back to sleep. Now years later he still reminds of that.

He is an angelic looking little boy - he is going to break a few hearts one day. I personally cannot wait for grandchildren - I just am dropping big hints - not really, when my daughter is ready sometime between now and death would be nice though! The pressue is on her she is an only child!! Great, heart warming post.

He is very cute. I suppose if he spent any more time with the trees they might actually talk with him :)

Thomas Wyatt is adorable and a pure delight, I am sure. I just love babies so much!! Our neighbor's daughter's baby is due in just a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to hold her!!!
I love how he waits at the the door to the pantry for his Fruit Loops. That is just so cute!
Nanna's house is so much fun with the wagon rides and all those trees.
Kids just grow up WAY too fast!
Thanks for sharing your precious grandson with all of us blog buddies. We love seeing that little angel.

I love your pics of TW, especially the one of him with only one sock. He's a cutie, for sure, and I know that you love having him spend the night and getting to play with him. I love having the grandkids, too, but I must admit to being ready to rest once they leave!

You are so lucky to have him come and spend such a wonderful time with you. By the time he is back in 2 weeks, he will probably advance to things more complicated than light switches, and raiding pantries for fruit loops, but thats what Grandmas are there for.....great little fellow. Give him an extra dollop of ice cream on my behalf..:-)

Ok, I'm going to resist saying just how jealous I am! Wait, I already said it!
Thanks for giving those of us with no grandchildren a little vicarious pleasure.
Loved this little piece of your life and loved the photos of the little guy.
You are one lucky woman!
